REISHI mushrooms grow on noble trees, pulling nutrients from its dead host making it available to us as an all natural ‘medicine’. Used to make a caffeine-free tea, tonic or extract, REISHI has an earthy mild mushroom slight bitter flavour.
Our good friend Victor hand-harvests GY REISHI fruiting body (Ganoderma tsugae) from hemlock trees within the depths of the Ontario and Quebec forest. He always leaves some reishi on the trees to preserve the health of the ecosystem. Showing gratitude towards the forest, he engages in eco restoration to ensure this super ‘Queen of the Mushrooms’ stays available for future generations.
GY REISHI 1:1 DUAL EXTRACT is made using a double extraction process; 50% pure grain alcohol extract combined with 50% hot water extract. The double extraction process increases the overall potency. Victor uses 1 part fresh Reishi mushroom to 1 part ethanol/water creating a very powerful extract. Most extracts on the market are less potent, most being 1:5 (1 part mushroom to 5 parts liquid), and using farmed mushrooms from China. The ethanol is non-GMO grain ethanol and very potent, more potent than cane alcohol, and 95% ethanol so no grain residue remains.
Reishi (in Japanese) or Ling Zhi (in Chinese) literally means the “Immortality Mushroom” and “Supernatural Mushroom” and “Spiritual/Divine/Sacred Plant of Longevity” and “Possessed of Soul Power”, and “Herb of Spiritual Potency”….you get the idea. Reishi is a highly revered mushroom that has been successfully used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 2,000 years, and by other cultures throughout the world for over 10,000 years.
Reishi use is generally safe and has high antioxidant value. There are no negative side effects reported in available literature and clinical studies. However, very sensitive individuals may experience some detoxification symptoms such as mild digestive upset, dizziness, sore bones, and skin rashes during the initial period of intake. Use common sense caution when starting any new regime. Start slowly and increase according to the suggested dosage, listening to what your body and intuition tells you.
How to use GY REISHI: Take ½ – 1 dropper of GY REISHI extract under tongue or in water, smoothies, coffee, tea, etc. once or twice a day.
